Focus - Ariana Grande
Ariana Grande has returned with a new single titled “Focus”.
“Focus” is an upbeat song with ties to a jazz instrumental chorus. The song starts out slow, but towards the chorus it gets faster and builds more tension. The single reminds me of one of Ariana’s previous songs, “reProblem”.
The lyrics seem to be hinting at asserting yourself in a relationship. During the chorus, a male voice shouts “Focus on me,” during the loud bustle of instruments playing.
The music video shows white-haired Ariana dancing around in a variety of monochrome outfits. The attention to color in this video is absolutely brilliant! She even brings out a trumpet in some parts of the video!! I believe that the video is a reference to the retro modern aspect of the song itself.
