The Brook & The Bluff: Spring 2023

The National (Richmond, VA)
05/05/23

Transforming The National into a groovy indie pop dream, The Brook & The Bluff performed to a crowd of loving fans in Richmond, Virginia. The Nashville-based group consists of vocalist Joseph Settine, drummer John Canada, guitarist Alec Bolton, bassist Fred Lankford, and keyboardist Kevin Canada. The band hasn’t released new music since their second full-length album, Yard Sale, in October of 2021, but that doesn’t stop them from drawing in enthusiastic crowds in every city they visit.

The show began with Kevin performing an interlude-like keyboard solo until “Little Sheets” from 2021’s Yard Sale took over the room. The band’s intricate lighting setup created a beautiful atmosphere. The crowd danced and sang along as The Brook & The Bluff made their way through plenty of songs across their discography, performing songs from their 2018 self-titled E.P. and their two full-length albums. The band even treated the crowd with two new, unreleased songs, “Tangerine” and “Long Limbs,” which are now being highly anticipated!

Ending the show with an encore consisting of fan favorite “Everything Is Just a Mess” from their first full-length album, First Place, and “Masks” from their debut E.P., The Brook & The Bluff left the crowd with nothing but great things to say.
