Bleached Festival

Waterfront Park (San Diego, CA)
08/05/23 - 08/06/23

On the sunny weekend of August 5th and 6th, people flocked to Waterfront Park in San Diego, California for the first ever Bleached Festival. Consuming the entire park, festival-goers had the opportunity to eat, drink, play games, and even shop at the onsite vinyl store, while being blessed with the sounds of various genres of live music. With performances by some of the biggest rising stars in music such as Lizzy McAlpine, Jeremy Zucker, Omar Apollo, Remi Wolf, Caroline Polachek, Joji, and Maude Latour right next to the water, everyone was guaranteed to have a great time!

To combat the extremely hot weather, there was plenty of shaded seating. A standstill fountain gave listeners the opportunity to cool off by dangling their feet into the water, while others took the opportunity to wade in and dance to the music. Two stages were set up on opposite ends of the park with food, local vendors, and hydration stations in between, allowing guests to migrate back and forth to hear multiple acts at once. Several of the fan favorite acts were scheduled back to back on separate stages, resulting in a mad dash back and forth amongst the crowd. Maude Latour, Lizzy McAlpine, and Ethel Cain were among this craze. For each of the acts leading up to the headliners, the crowd gave their undivided attention while singing along to songs they recognized.

Based on the chill vibe exuded by attendees, many hope the festival is here to stay. Beautiful sunset views with palm trees galore exemplified San Diego’s tropical mood perfectly. Nothing compares to watching your favorite artists perform in the sunshine at golden hour with a slight beachy breeze in tow. If you live in the surrounding area, or are down for a road trip, I highly recommend checking out Bleached Fest next summer!
