In early December, pop singer Jacob Lawson, better known as JVKE, announced two surprise shows in Los Angeles and New York City. Jacob is one of the most viral social media personalities and musicians right now, and his shows are known for selling out in less than 10 minutes. His recent New Year’s Eve performance had critics talking from all angles, and JVKE set the record straight with these two shows alone.
Opening the show was rising pop artist Nicky Youre, who rapidly gained success after his songs went viral on TikTok. He warmed up the crowd with the familiar hit “Sunroof,” which has nearly 500 million listens on Spotify alone. Nicky even performed some unreleased music as well! As JVKE’s performance came closer and closer, you could feel the excitement from the crowd as their chants and phone flashlights filled the room. JVKE’s set design was nothing short of nostalgic and comforting, as it was a complete replica of his own bedroom where he made most of his songs. He’s fairly new to performing, but you wouldn’t know it from the way he occupied the stage. He is a natural performer as if he’s been doing it his whole life.
JVKE performed songs primarily from his 2022 debut album, this is what ____ feels like (Vol. 1-4), which includes fan favorites “golden hour” and “this is what falling in love feels like.” He also performed unreleased music, as well as created new songs from scratch live on stage! His ability to captivate a crowd and create an experience is something rare for an artist of his age. Seeing the growth of JVKE over the past few years has been nothing short of phenomenal.
JVKE just announced a full North American tour in 2023, and you won’t want to miss it – that is, if it isn’t already sold out!
