Griff: An Evening with Griff

El Rey Theatre (Los Angeles, CA)
02/07/24

On February 7th, Griff performed at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles, California. Fresh off her opening slot on tour with Coldplay was this one-off L.A. show. People of all kinds quickly filed inside the venue, hoping to escape the torrential downpour – a somewhat rare occasion in L.A. With no opener to kick off the night, fans waited patiently for Griff to begin. There was a soft whisper of chitchat amongst the crowd, complete with the squeakiness of wet shoes across the hard floor. The 20-year-old English singer-songwriter was met with eruptive applause as she took to the stage for the first song on her setlist, “Black Hole.” As she danced around on stage, her immense talent was instantly recognizable as she effortlessly hit each note. Earlier that day on Instagram, she gave fans two outfit options for the night and had them vote on which they liked better. Fans cheered enthusiastically as she danced around in a long white, ruffled dress that they had chosen for her.

As her set continued, she thanked the audience several times for making the effort to be there with her that night. At the end of her set, she played all four songs off of her latest E.P., vert1go vol. 1. One of my personal favorites of hers, “Into the Walls,” was without a doubt one of her best songs of the evening – both vocally and in performance. Griff also played a then unreleased track entitled “Miss Me Too.” When her last song and biggest hit, “Vertigo,” began to play, the crowd was shouting the lyrics along with her.

Griff’s effortlessly beautiful vocals and astonishing stage presence are something you must experience for yourself in person.
