golden gate park (san francisco, ca)
08/08/2025 - 08/10/2025
In its 17th year, Outside Lands returned to San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park from August 8–10, bringing back everything it’s known and loved for – great music, food, unique experiences, and art. Three days of Karl the Fog (SF’s iconic coastal fog), sunshine (which blessed the first half of the weekend), and a sea of festivalgoers set the stage for performances that balanced blockbuster spectacle with intimate discovery.
This year’s lineup leaned especially into alternative and indie favorites, with Hozier, Vampire Weekend, Glass Animals, Flipturn, Still Woozy, and Wallows drawing massive crowds. Headliners anchored each night: Doja Cat electrified Friday with a high-energy performance, Tyler, the Creator delivered a frenetic set on Saturday, and Hozier closed Sunday with emotional depth and soaring vocals. Doechii drew one of the most anticipated crowds of the weekend, while international acts like Japan’s Fujii Kaze, who shifted seamlessly between piano, saxophone, and jazzy pop melodies, and Argentina’s Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso, whose breakout Tiny Desk now has over 40 million views, proved that global sounds resonated just as strongly in Golden Gate Park. Bleachers brought cathartic singalongs, Wasia Project charmed with their fusion of indie pop, jazz, and classical, Inji brought early-day fun, and Luna Li and Hope Tala offered some of the weekend’s most refreshing sets. And it wouldn’t be a Bay Area festival without electronic heavyweights: John Summit closed the Twin Peaks stage on Friday, while Jamie xx and Gesaffelstein commanded late-night energy on Saturday and Sunday.
Outside the main stages, some of the festival’s most exciting evolutions took shape. The new Duboce Triangle stage quickly became a fan favorite, tucked under the trees for an almost secret-show atmosphere. Dolores thrived as a queer-centered haven of drag, dance, and community, while Casa BACARDÍ and SOMA (upgraded this year with geometric light installations) brought even more energy to Latin rhythms and electronic music.
Of course, Outside Lands has always been about more than music. Food vendors once again raised the bar, with options that highlighted the Bay Area’s culinary diversity. Grass Lands continued to provide a uniquely San Francisco space to explore cannabis culture, while the wedding venue returned just off a wooded walking path near Flower Lands – an idyllic backdrop for the ceremonies that unfolded throughout the weekend.
