The Shorty Awards is a New York City based award show honoring individuals on Social Media. The 8th annual award show will be held in April of 2016. They will be recognizing the influencers and organizations on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr, Instagram, Snapchat, Vine and many more. Winners of previous Shorty Awards include Taylor Swift, Bill Nye, Michelle Obama, Malala Yousafzai, and NASA. We’re splitting this up into four categories: Youtube, Instagram, Vine and Tumblr.
Nominees for Best Youtube Comedian:
The Gabbie Show
There is a lot of diversity in this group of people; it’s a hard pick. Personally, I predict that Miranda Sings will take home the award.
Nominees for Best Youtube Ensemble:
The Slow Mo Guys
Prank vs Prank
The Fine Bros
Dan & Phil
The Piano Guys
The Gregory Brothers
Everyone in this group is very talented, but only one person can win! I would want Jacksgap to win, but my bet is on either Shaytards or Dan & Phil. I know how dedicated their fans are!
Nominees for Best Youtube Guru:
Sprinkle of Glitter
I’m no expert on makeup, but I know that it is the one thing that all of the people in this category share a love for. This will be a hard decision, but my bet is on either Gigi Gorgeous or Amanda Steele.
Nominees for Best Youtube Musician:
Kurt Hugo Schneider
This category holds so many talented musicians and I wish they could all go home with an award, but that just can’t happen. I predict Flula or Alessia Cara to win the award.
Nominees for Instagrammer of the Year:
Looking for Heroes
Girl With No Job
Two of my favorite Instagrammers are in this category; it’s going to be tough to choose which to root for. I’m hoping for either the Dogist to win due its many photos of cute dogs, or Robert Jahns due to his beautiful travel photos.
Nominees for Instagram Photo of the Year:
Can You Find Me? https://www.instagram.com/p/8sg34XlckX/
Super Blood Moon https://www.instagram.com/p/8LlpXDmrDc/
I Bleed Each Month https://www.instagram.com/p/0ovWwJHA6f/

Kendall Jenner <3 https://www.instagram.com/p/3H0-Yqjo7u/
Be Proud Of Yourself and Love Yourself https://www.instagram.com/p/4hc3nWujF_/
Happy May Day https://www.instagram.com/p/2KPQtNiaZh/

What Do You Mean https://www.instagram.com/p/62lH1OAvtW/
Interactive Grams https://www.instagram.com/p/kZ65uzyFRS/
All of these photos are so powerful and beautiful; they all give a unique message. My top 3 predictions are “I Bleed Each Month” due to its bashing-misogyny attitude and powerful message, “Love Wins” because it captures the love and excitement of a pride parade after same-sex marriage was legalized, and “Be Proud Of Yourself and Love Yourself ” because it sends such a positive message.

Nominees for Vine Comedian:
Justin J. Russo
My prediction for the winner of the Best Vine Comedian is Gabriel Gundacker. With almost 400k followers and over 400,000,000 loops, he has a large and ever-growing fan base. His vines often surpass 5,000,000 loops and have even gained 15,000,000+ loops. He never fails to leave you laughing, meanwhile delving into and commenting on social and political topics. He’s perhaps best known for his series of Hillary Clinton vines, which altogether have racked up an impressive 35,000,000+ loops. He’s certainly at the top of his league, and has high chances of winning the award.
Nominees for Tumblr Blog of the Year:
SKA or Improv
Straight Outta Cooperstown
Will It Beard
100 Things That Should Die
Photoshop Your Dreams
Congrats, You Have An All Male Panel!
2 Kinds of People
Every Single Word
The Last Message Received
The Daily Task
The Atlas of Beauty
I predict that The Atlas of Beauty will win best blog. Mihaela Noroc is a 30-year-old photographer from Romania. Two years ago she used her savings from work to start traveling around the world, taking portrait pictures of women to capture the diversity within each one. Through her blog, you see the true essence of international beauty: women from Colombia to Ethiopia portrayed in a natural and pure light. I feel that her blog’s unique nature stands out amongst the other nominees, therefore giving her a great chance of winning.
