The white brick walls outside of Artisans Gallery & Cafe really stand out next to the surrounding stores on Main Street in Phoenixville, PA. The glass windows on either side of the door display the first of many pieces of art the shop has to offer! Various pottery is carefully set on white shelves and help draw attention to the small store wedged between many others. This unique display definitely succeeded in drawing the attention of my friends and myself as we were exploring downtown Phoenixville!
We walked in and were met with the relaxed atmosphere many cafes possess. The inside was naturally lit by the light coming from the front windows as well as a single skylight above the cashier counter. Even though it was considerably dim inside, it was still possible to see the abounding amount of local art carefully placed around the perimeter of the elongated room. The outlines of paintings on walls, pottery on shelves, woodwork, and more were on display throughout the the room. Comfy chairs and wooden tables helped pulled the layout design together and made the cafe feel warm and cozy.
Of course, no cafe is complete without some amazing food! Artisans had everything from breakfast burritos, to soup, to baked goods, to sandwiches, to gelato, and, of course, to coffee! We were eating a late lunch, but that didn’t stop my friends from ordering breakfast food! I, on the other hand, ordered the tomato basil soup while my company for the outing munched on breakfast sandwiches. Artisans also had a refrigerator full of drinks in glasses that, for the most part, I had never heard of! We each grabbed a bottle of whatever we wanted to try, black cherry soda for me, and found a table to sit at.
From the first bites of our dishes, we found ourselves in heaven. My food was extremely good and from the small bites I snagged from my friends, so was theirs! The drinks were so tasty as well which just added to the uniqueness of the cafe!
After we ate, we stayed a little while and enjoyed the calm atmosphere. We talked amongst ourselves for a while before looking around and people-watching. There were all sorts of people in the shop; there were people talking with friends, reading books, going on dates, admiring the art – all sorts of things!
We eventually left and continued walking around the town looking for prime photo locations. After around 2 hours, we had gotten all the pictures we wanted and really just wanted to sit back down and eat some more! We ended up coming back to the cafe because we were already hungry for dinner and wanted to try more of their food! One of my friends and I decided to split a mega cupcake (it was huge) while my other 2 friends decided to get some gelato.
From the art, the atmosphere, and the amazing (and affordable) food, Artisans Gallery & Cafe easily became my favorite place in all of downtown Phoenixville! Everything was very unique, from the cafe’s layout to the plates and bowls they used, and the food and service was amazing!
If you’re ever in the area and are looking for a nice place to simply relax and maybe catch up with a friend or are just in need of some good coffee, free wifi, and charging outlets, Artisans is your place! I personally can’t wait to go there again with my friends and try even more of their delicious food!
